The Common Core State Standards have been adopted by the state of Vermont and many other states, and the Burlington School District is making the transition to these new standards. 2013-2014 will be the last year of the New England Common Assessment Project (NECAP) testing. In the spring of 2015, the Smarter Balance Assessment will be given to students in Grades 3-5 and will replace the NECAP. In first grade students practice the important math concepts, skills, and concepts of mind below to be prepared for this assessment and to be life long successful mathematicians.
