Meet Mrs. Galusha!
I grew up on the North Shore of Long Island, where I loved to swim, ride my bike, play lacrosse, travel, go to the beach, and draw. After graduating from North Shore High School I attended college at the University of Connecticut, where I played rugby and was a member of the Multicultural Club; Go Huskies!!! Since graduating from college I have lived in Breckenridge, Colorado, Jackson, Wyoming, and now Burlington, Vermont. While living in Wyoming I realized how much I love to teach young children and decided to obtain my elementary teaching certification from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the summer of 2012, my husband, Chip, chocolate lab, Harry, and I moved to beautiful Vermont. We instantly fell in love with the environment, culture, and people. We spend much of our time skiing, biking, camping, canoeing, gardening, cooking, walking our dog, and practicing yoga.
I am passionate about working with children, not only in school, but in the community as well. For the past two years I tutored middle school children after school at King Street Center and in the summers taught elementary students enrolled in the New Arrivals Program at the Sara Holbrook Community Center. This is my third year at Champlain Elementary School. Last year I job shared with Rebecca Haslam in first grade and am thrilled to be teaching first grade again this year!
I remember loving first grade and my first grade teacher, Ms. Dolan. I thought you might like to see what I looked like in first grade so I dug up some old photos to share. Enjoy!
